Feb 17, 2012 | Everything Else, rbt Bags |

I’m excited to say that Crystal Wilkerson’s 2012 planner is available and the perfect compliment to our oilcloth mini binders!  I mentioned her 2011 planner in a previous post on different uses for my oilcloth mini binders.  As well, I am doing a giveaway on her blog during her 30-day challenge, so stay tuned to find out how to win!

Here are just a few examples of the things you will find in her planner, available now for $29.95!

Brownies, Waffle Style

I’m encroaching on my 1,000th Etsy sale!  In celebration, I am doing a countdown to 1,000 sales on my Facebook page.  We will do a drawing of three lucky Facebook fans for an rbt bags’ giveaway when we reach that 1,000th sale, so be sure to like us on Facebook, if you don’t already, for a chance at that drawing!

In the meantime, I’m working hard over here, picking out our new oilcloth colors for Spring 2012, can’t wait to see what we have in store for you this spring!

On a very different note, the boys and I tried yet another Pinteresting Find this week.  It’s a waffle, it’s a brownie, it’s a waffle brownie!  Yes, we poured our brownie batter onto our trusty, 12-year-old waffle iron (a wedding present that’s taken a beating over the years, and even lost a leg, but still keeps going!) and out came a waffle brownie, soft and chewy!  The conclusion was that this was a fun, new twist on an old traditional favorite and was a great way to get a brownie fast if you don’t like waiting 25 minutes for your pan of brownies to cook while the smell wafts through the kitchen, teasing you all the while!  For a link to the directions on making your brownies in the waffle iron, click here (hint, use CHOW’s Intense Brownie recipe for this, you won’t regret it!).  I also tried some chocolate chip muffins on the waffle iron and enjoyed those as well!  Bon Appetit!

Family Planner and Recipe Book Follow Up

So, Laura and I are getting prepared for a fun family Thanksgiving with our parents in the North Carolina mountains this week.  Hopefully we’ll have some fun pictures to post when we return!  But, before I leave, I wanted to to a follow-up on the posts I did with ideas on how to make my oilcloth binders into family recipe books and planners.

Using My Oilcloth Mini Binders To Make Recipe Books and Family Planners

My oilcloth mini binders

As a follow up to my first post about how to use my oilcloth mini binders, made to hold half sheets of paper, my sister discovered these recipe refill pages for 4×6 recipe cards that fit perfectly in my mini binders.  They are slightly expensive, but I’ve tried other refill pages for 4×6 index cards that don’t fit as well as these.  These could be very useful for making a recipe book using already existing 4×6 or 3×5 index cards.  Websites such as allrecipes.com allow you to print their recipes in 4×6 format, or you can find many cute and creative printable recipe cards here on Etsy. Free Printables and Family Organizers

Some of my oilcloth binders and binder covers available on Etsy

After my post on how to use my oilcloth mini binders (8 1/2 in x 5 1/2 in) to create your own recipe collections and weekly planners, I figured I’d be remiss not to do a post on how to use my normal size (8 1/2 in x 11 in) oilcloth three-ring binder for organizational benefits as well.  I’ve seen some great downloadable planner pages on Pinterest lately (yes, I’m the latest victim of yet another social networking time warp, but I do love it) and thought I’d share them here.

Download some of these freebies and use page protectors to organize them inside one of my oilcloth three-ring binders to create your own family organizers, menu planners, calendars and more.  Of course, you don’t have to use one of my binders, but it would make organizing a little more bright and cheery. (:  Also, many of these pages could make great Christmas gifts for loved ones this year organized neatly inside a binder!

Here are a few free downloads I found:
